Over the past 24 hours, the price of AI-92 gasoline in Uzbekistan has increased by 7.4%, leading to a twofold decrease in sales volumes on the exchange.

This price hike is linked to the rise in global oil prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East.

On March 10, the price of AI-92 gasoline on the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UzRTSB) reached over 12.72 million sums (91,223.53 sums) per ton, which is 7.4% higher than the previous day. At the same time, sales volumes fell from 3,784 tons on Friday to 1,835 tons on Tuesday.

The increase in gasoline prices occurred against the backdrop of rising global oil quotes, which last week exceeded $100 per barrel for the first time since the summer of 2022, although the price has since slightly retreated.

Economist Otabek Bakirov noted that the rise in global oil prices serves as "an excellent excuse for oligarchs and monopolists" to increase domestic fuel prices. He added that despite the decline in global quotes, gasoline prices in the country have risen by 11.9% in 2025.

It is also worth noting that the increase in prices on the exchange coincided with the closure of methane filling stations across Uzbekistan. Due to the drop in temperature, the Ministry of Energy has imposed temporary restrictions on the operation of CNG stations, although specific timelines for lifting these restrictions have not been announced.

Since October 2024, "Uzbekneftegaz" has begun offering AI-92 gasoline on the commodity and raw materials exchange, where the price of fuel from the Bukhara Oil Refinery has already exceeded 11.5 million sums (82,474.10 sums) per ton. Last August, a record price for AI-92 gasoline was recorded, exceeding 13.3 million sums (95,383.09 sums).
