The Speaker of the State Duma discussed the development of inter-parliamentary and economic relations with the Ambassador of China.
The meeting between the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev and the Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping was an important event where issues of cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
According to the press service of the parliament, the participants of the meeting addressed current issues in Kyrgyz-Chinese relations and discussed ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties.
Mamataliyev emphasized that the development of relations between Kyrgyzstan and China, as neighboring states, is a key aspect of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy.
He stated: "We are ready to deepen inter-parliamentary interaction and strategic partnership. In recent years, there has been dynamic development in Kyrgyz-Chinese relations, which is confirmed by regular high-profile visits." He cited three meetings between the leaders of the two countries that took place last year as an example.
"Today we see a real opportunity to implement the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which has long remained at the discussion stage. We have also reached agreements on several joint investment projects," the Speaker added.
He also noted that one of the priority tasks for Kyrgyzstan is the development of trade, economic, and cultural ties.
Ambassador Jiangping, in turn, highlighted the importance of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan for China, emphasizing that a "golden age" in relations between the two countries has now begun. The Ambassador also conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Lezhi and congratulated Mamataliyev on his recent election as Speaker.
