In 2024-2025, new reserves were discovered during geological exploration work.
Currently, the total gold reserves at the Kumtor deposit, accounted for on the state balance, amount to 367 tons. This was reported by Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy, water resources, and environmental protection.
Asel Raimkulova emphasized that Kumtor is the largest and strategically important deposit in the mining industry of Kyrgyzstan. In recent years, geological exploration work has been actively conducted here, which has contributed to a significant increase in confirmed mineral reserves.
As a result of exploration work conducted in 2024 in the central section, 147 tons of gold for underground development were added to the state balance.
Additionally, in 2025, as a result of further studies in the tailings storage facility, 121.4 tons of gold and 225 tons of silver were identified, which were also accounted for on the state balance.
Raimkulova noted that this research creates opportunities for the long-term operation of Kumtor and further strengthens its role as one of the main sources of income for the state budget.
She also added that after the enterprise came under full state control, tax and mandatory payments from Kumtor for the period from 2021 to 2025 amounted to 100.6 billion soms.
