Bishkek will become a port, and military vessels of the Kyrgyz Republic will not transport nuclear materials

The discussion of the new Maritime Trade Code has begun in society

Important information: military vessels of Kyrgyzstan will not participate in the transportation of nuclear materials. This provision is included in the draft Maritime Trade Code currently being developed in the country.

The purpose of this document is to create a legal framework for maritime transportation and the use of vessels under the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic. The draft has been put out for public discussion to gather feedback and suggestions.

The Code will provide the opportunity to regulate relations in the field of maritime trade and will affirm the right of Kyrgyzstan, as a landlocked state, to access international waters and freedom of navigation in accordance with international law. It is planned to create a registry of vessels, where registration will be carried out in the port of Bishkek with the name displayed on the stern in Latin letters. One of the key points of the document is the assertion that military ships of Kyrgyzstan will not engage in the transportation of nuclear materials.

According to the new Code, both citizens of Kyrgyzstan and foreigners will be able to own vessels registered in the republic.
