Approved plans for the development of crop production, horticulture, and cooperation for the coming years

At a meeting of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, strategic plans for the development of horticulture, crop production, and cooperation for the coming years were approved. This was reported by Turat Idirisov, head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation.

Idirisov emphasized that the main priority in horticulture will be providing farmers with quality and certified seedlings of fruit crops.

As part of seed production, it is planned to increase the production of certified grain seeds to 37.1 thousand tons by 2028, which corresponds to a 30% increase compared to current figures. Two state nurseries will also be established for scientific research.

Regarding plant protection, a complete reconstruction of laboratories is planned in the cities of Jalal-Abad and Balakchy, which will start operating in 2026. The Central Toxicological Laboratory will open its doors in 2027.

In the field of cooperation, the process of providing cooperatives with the necessary equipment will continue. From 2026 to 2027, about 2000 hectares will be processed, leading to the creation of over 120 new jobs.

“The implementation of technological innovations, such as smart greenhouses, drip irrigation systems, automated farms, and monitoring using drones and satellites, will increase yields by 25-35% and allow for more efficient use of water and fertilizers,” the statement notes.

It is also emphasized that the use of high-yielding and drought-resistant varieties, such as the global hybrid "DroughtGard," will ensure production stability.
