The project, titled "Creating Framework Conditions for the Mass Implementation of Energy Innovations in Agricultural Systems of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan," is being carried out by the Public Foundation "Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency" in collaboration with Welthungerhilfe e.V. The project is supported by the Small Grants and Climate Innovations Fund (SGCIF), funded by the UK government. SGCIF is part of a regional program aimed at managing climate risks in Central Asia, which is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government.
The main objective of the project is to create conditions for the widespread adoption of environmentally friendly energy technologies in agriculture, which will help increase farmers' energy independence and reduce production costs.
As part of the practical implementation, the development, installation, and demonstration of the following technologies are planned for the first quarter of 2026:
- solar photovoltaic generation systems (PV) for autonomous power supply, including pumps and ventilation systems;
- heat pumps that will reduce heating and hot water supply costs for greenhouses and processing facilities;
- solar electric shepherds (electric fencing) for protecting agricultural plots;
- drip irrigation systems;
- solar tunnel dryers for processing fruits and vegetables, which accelerate the drying process and minimize crop losses.
In addition, the project plans to create demonstration sites where four technologies will be installed at four locations. Training for specialists and support for supply chain development through encouraging purchases from local suppliers are also included.
