The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry confirmed the information about the price increase. Ulan Chekyrbaev, head of the food security department, noted that wholesale prices have increased by 2 soms in just a week.
“The wholesale price has risen from 10 to 12 soms per piece. This is related to the price increase in Kazakhstan and Russia, as we have a common market—any changes in neighboring countries affect us. In particular, Russia has imposed restrictions on wholesale sales,” he explained in an interview with 24.kg.
Additionally, a representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture noted that the current situation could have positive consequences for producers. Last year, prices were too low, putting small farms on the brink of bankruptcy. According to Ulan Chekyrbaev, the current increase will help farmers recover.
At present, Kyrgyzstan is 80% self-sufficient in chicken eggs. It is worth noting that in the fall of 2025, the agency announced the achievement of complete self-sufficiency and the potential for product exports.
