During a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the question of how Kyrgyzstan participates in the Central Asia energy ring.
He reminded that the possibility of the country exiting this project had been discussed earlier.
Deputy Minister of Energy Nasipbek Kerimov confirmed that the energy ring continues its work, and currently, the issue of exiting it is not on the agenda.
“Indeed, the exit was discussed earlier when our own internal networks were created. However, this issue is not relevant now,” he added.
The deputy also inquired about the prospects for the development of the energy system in the Jalal-Abad region.
According to the deputy minister, the modernization of two substations with a voltage of 220 kV - "Kristall" and "Torobai" - is planned.
In response to a question about mutual electricity supplies, Kerimov noted that currently, Kyrgyzstan is purchasing electricity from Uzbekistan to reduce the load on its networks.
He also pointed out the presence of technical losses in the energy system. According to his data, losses on lines with a voltage of 35–500 kV amount to up to 5%, while on networks of 0.4–35 kV, they are about 10%. However, these figures have decreased compared to previous years due to the implementation of SIP cables and "smart" meters.
