The lack of funds for medicines and clothing raises concerns
Despite the recent increase in pension payments, many pensioners in Kyrgyzstan still face difficulties. This is reported by readers of the editorial office.
“Even having our own housing in Bishkek, we are forced to spend almost half of our pension on utility payments. From the remaining amount, we have only 150 soms left for food per day. How can one live on such money? We simply do not have funds for medicines and clothing,” pensioners share their worries.
According to data from the Social Fund, as of October 1, 2025, the average pension in the country was 11,226 soms.
Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov stated at a meeting held on February 27, 2026, that there are no pensioners in the country whose pension is below 8,000 soms per month.
There are 816.6 thousand pensioners registered in the republic.
