According to forecasts, by 2026, the total area for agricultural crop planting in Kyrgyzstan will reach 1,250 thousand hectares. Of this area, 818 thousand hectares will be irrigated land, while 432 thousand hectares will be rain-fed. For comparison, in 2025, the sown area was 1,245.6 thousand hectares, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture.

As of February 27, 2026, active work on plowing and sowing continues in the republic:

The total area where tillage has been carried out is 29,664 hectares. The leading regions are Osh region with 17,768 hectares, Chui region with 9,749 hectares, and Jalal-Abad region with 2,147 hectares.
Crops of cereals: spring cereals have been sown on 5,547 hectares.
Wheat: 2,466 hectares (in Osh region — 1,510 hectares, in Chui region — 850 hectares, in Jalal-Abad region — 106 hectares).
Barley: 3,081 hectares (in Chui region — 1,318 hectares, in Osh region — 996 hectares, in Jalal-Abad region — 767 hectares).
As for other crops, potatoes have been planted on an area of 189.7 hectares (mainly in Jalal-Abad region), and vegetables on 5 hectares (in Osh region).

Work is mainly concentrated in the southern regions and the Chui Valley. At the same time, sowing work in Talas, Issyk-Kul, and Naryn regions will begin later, according to the planned schedule.
