Zhapаров: We plan to achieve self-sufficiency in all socially significant products.
He noted that the agricultural sector has shown good results, with an increase in agricultural production volume to nearly 2 trillion soms over the past five years.
According to the president, this has led to the creation of new jobs and an increase in incomes for rural residents, which in turn contributes to the economic independence of the country.
Currently, the republic fully provides itself with dairy products, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, meat, and eggs, which is an important indicator of food sustainability and security. Previously, a significant portion of these goods was imported.
Japarov also added that the republic intends to achieve self-sufficiency in the remaining three types of food by halting their import. More than 60 product names produced in the country are exported to over 80 countries, demonstrating the competitiveness of Kyrgyz farmers on the international stage.
The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, added that vegetable oil and fruits are still being imported.
