Kazakhstan's grain exports to Kyrgyzstan increased by 1.7 times — from 104 thousand tons to 180 thousand tons over the season
This growth occurred due to the activation of trade with traditional markets, both in Central Asia and beyond. Supplies to Uzbekistan increased by 46%, reaching 3 million tons compared to 2 million tons. Exports to Kyrgyzstan rose 1.7 times — from 104 thousand tons to 180 thousand tons, while exports to Afghanistan nearly doubled — from 236 thousand tons to 466 thousand tons, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported.
It was previously reported that in 2025, the export of Kazakh grain through the ports of the Baltic countries increased more than sixfold, reaching 802 thousand tons. In 2026, the total area of crops in Kazakhstan will amount to 23.8 million hectares, which is 180 thousand hectares more than in 2025. As part of the strategy to diversify agricultural crops, the area under grain crops continues to be reduced to 15.9 million hectares, which is 112.4 thousand hectares less than last year, mainly due to a decrease in the area under wheat from 12.2 million hectares to 12.1 million hectares.
In addition, the government of Kazakhstan allocated an additional 7 billion tenge to support grain exporters. These funds are aimed at fully meeting the state's obligations under the current transportation cost subsidy program and further stimulating supplies to key foreign markets, including countries in Central Asia.
