A dispute occurred between a deputy and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the Jogorku Kenesh.
In response, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev noted that updating bean varieties is necessary to increase yields. According to him, there is also a problem of land depletion.
He emphasized: “To maintain fertility, it is necessary to periodically change lands and apply fertilizers.” Chotonov, in turn, called for a solution to the problem of updating bean seeds to increase yields: “It is essential to provide assistance to farmers,” he added.
Kerimaliev also noted that in recent years, there has been a significant increase in attention to seeds and the situation with farmers, particularly in the Talas region.
“If we constantly focus on the negative, that’s how it will be. You say you want to convey the people's opinion to us, but we also need to acknowledge the positive results of our work,” he noted.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that many projects are being implemented in the Talas region, including the construction of canals, BSR, and BDR. However, the deputy expressed doubt, pointing out that not a single BDR has been built in Talas so far, only projects have been submitted.
“In your lots, there isn’t even a sluice. It is necessary not only to be able to collect money from people but also to work effectively,” the deputy emphasized.
This issue was discussed in the context of reviewing the draft Law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (on the laws ‘On the Protection and Use of Plant Life’ and ‘On the Development of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic’)”, which was submitted for the first reading.
