At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed using industrial cannabis to create clothing, bags, and other products.
According to him, sewing factories in Kyrgyzstan are well known in Russia.
“It would be preferable if our local fabrics were used in production instead of importing them from Turkey and China. In countries like America, you can find clothing and accessories made from cannabis,” he noted.
The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, in turn, added that implementing this idea would require cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and amendments to current legislation.
“Additionally, it is necessary to conduct tests on industrial cannabis, after which the results will be sent to the Academy of Sciences. Fabrics made from this material could also be used in the army,” he emphasized.
