Electricity tariff will increase in Kyrgyzstan from May 1

Starting from May 1, the electricity tariff for households in Kyrgyzstan using up to 700 kilowatt-hours per month will increase by 27 tyiyn, reaching 1 som 64 tyiyn per kilowatt-hour. This information was provided by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The social threshold will remain unchanged.

For commercial users, the tariff will be 3.96 som plus inflation at 9.4%, which will ultimately amount to 4.33 som excluding taxes.

The ministry emphasized that the current tariffs for the population are aimed at social needs and are significantly lower than their actual cost.

In this regard, a medium-term tariff regulation has been developed for the period of 2025–2030, aimed at balancing revenues and expenditures, as well as reducing the deficit in the energy system.

To ensure reliable electricity supply to consumers, annual repairs of energy equipment, including overhead lines, transformers, and hydro units, are planned. For a long time, the existing tariffs did not cover the actual costs of electricity production, and the difference was compensated through budget loans. Now, tariffs will be gradually adjusted to the real cost price.

It is expected that the new tariff policy will eliminate the financial deficit in the energy sector in the future, support the country's economic development, and ensure access to electricity for new residential complexes, educational institutions, medical facilities, and other entities.
