In the near future, citizens will be able to inherit their funds stored in electronic wallets. This was announced by Elizat Japarova, head of the banking supervision department of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, during a press conference.
She noted that a draft law is currently under public discussion, which proposes changes to several legislative acts. These changes will also pertain to electronic wallets, allowing existing regulations to be extended to them. Japarova also reminded that last year amendments were made to the Law on the Protection of Bank Deposits, which ensured the protection of electronic money issued by banks through the Deposit Protection Agency.
"Currently, the market offers not only bank accounts but also electronic wallets," she added.
The draft law proposes to adapt the inheritance practice of funds from bank accounts to electronic wallets. The initiative has been supported by the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Bank, and now the draft law will be submitted for consideration to the Jogorku Kenesh.
