During the meeting, Baktybek Kudaybergenov, Chairman of the National Statistical Committee, reported that the census will be conducted in electronic format, completely excluding paper documents. Data will be collected using mobile applications installed on the devices of enumerators, with subsequent transmission of information to the central server of the National Statistical Committee through secure communication channels.
A number of preliminary activities have already been completed:
- The census forms and the list of key indicators have been agreed upon with the relevant ministries and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
- Four census forms, as well as instructions for staff and a detailed calendar plan, have been approved.
- A pilot census was successfully conducted in 2024, which allowed for the refinement of software and methodology.
- In 2025–2026, a multi-stage training program for specialists will be implemented, both in-person and online. In the first stage, over 200 specialists underwent advanced training.
To conduct the census nationwide, 6,791 temporary staff will be recruited, including:
- Registrars – 1,179 people;
- Enumerators – 4,494 people;
- Instructor-supervisors – 898 people;
- Coordinators – 220 people.
According to the approved schedule, coordinators will begin their work in February 2026, while the main staff, consisting of instructors and enumerators, will start their activities in March-April.
Members of the Republican Commission emphasized: “The agricultural census is an important tool for forming an objective strategy for the country’s food security. We need to obtain the most accurate data on the agricultural potential of the republic for effective planning of state programs to support farmers.”
The Cabinet of Ministers has determined that the census will take place from March 20 to April 10, 2026.
