The Forest Service, which is part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, received 20 tractors today as part of the transfer of 116 units of equipment handed over by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was reported by Murataly Tagaev, the director of the Forest Service, in an interview with the news agency "Kabar".
He noted that the new tractors will be used for various operational needs of the Forest Service.
“The republican budget provides for the allocation of funds for 20 tractors. One of the main advantages of this equipment is that spare parts for them are easily accessible. They are not demanding on the quality of diesel fuel and can be equipped with various attachments, making them ideal for fieldwork. Currently, our logistics base cannot be considered fully equipped, as a significant portion of the existing equipment is outdated, leftover from the Soviet era. We have already begun the process of obtaining permission to dispose of unnecessary and non-working equipment that has turned into scrap metal,” Tagaev added.
It should be noted that in 2025, the Forest Service purchased 30 JAC T8 SUVs with its own funds, which were distributed across all forest enterprises in the country.
“Our goal is to completely renew the logistics base of the Forest Service. The 'Zhelmayans' are currently very effective for greenhouse work. Previously, we also received 20 motorcycles and 20 units of 'Zhelmayans'. In total, we have about 280 units of equipment in the republic, of which nearly 60 percent is outdated and was produced during the Soviet era. Additionally, we are actively purchasing drones,” he noted.
Tagaev also reported that forests cover 6.4 percent of Kyrgyzstan's territory, which is approximately 900 thousand hectares. About 2.5 million people depend on forest resources for their livelihoods and economic activities.
