Kyrgyzstan not only meets all domestic needs for beef and lamb but also has the potential for a sustainable surplus of these products. This was reported by Uran Chekyrbaev, head of the food security department at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, during the broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol" on the news agency "Kabar".
Chekyrbaev emphasized that the ecological nature of Kyrgyz meat is its main competitive advantage. He noted: "Traditional grazing in high-altitude pastures ensures the highest quality products, which enjoy stable demand in neighboring countries and occupy a significant share in their markets."
According to unofficial data, about 50% of the meat available in Uzbek markets comes from Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, the Uzbek side is showing active interest in lifting restrictions on the import of live cattle, Chekyrbaev added.
