Meat Market. Why is it still difficult to bypass distributors in the KR and is there a solution? – experts' response

The question of whether livestock breeders can sell their products without intermediaries has become the central topic of discussion in the program "Elden Sobol," organized by the news agency "Kabar." The broadcast featured Ulan Chekirbaev, head of the food security department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the KR, and independent expert Tynchtyk Altymychev.

Ulan Chekirbaev noted that at the moment, distributors play a key role in the retail trade system, performing functions necessary to ensure supplies to public catering points. For farmers, especially from remote areas, traveling to the city to sell a single animal turns out to be economically unfeasible.

“Excluding distributors from this chain would be a mistake, as they provide important links between producers and the market,” he added.

Tynchtyk Altymychev proposed an alternative approach, which could involve the formation of agricultural cooperatives. In his opinion, the creation of such cooperatives would allow producers to unite, which, in turn, would simplify market access and promote the development of direct sales of agricultural products.
