The main water resource for the region is the Chu River, whose flow is regulated by the Orto-Tokoy Reservoir with a volume of 470 million cubic meters. The river system also includes tributaries from the northern slopes of the Kyrgyz Ridge, such as Kyzyl-Suu, Shamshy, Burana, and others.
According to long-term observations, the annual flow of rivers in the Chui Valley amounts to 1.566 billion cubic meters, which allows for the irrigation of 92,565 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
Of the 276,694 thousand hectares irrigated by inter-farm networks, 173.3 thousand hectares (63%) receive water through inter-district main canals, including:
• OCHK-I — 16 thousand hectares (16.7 km);
