AgroDialog – 2026. Gardeners are switching to a new plum variety to increase yield and income

In recent years, gardeners have faced the need to update plum varieties. This has become one of the central topics at the forum "AgroDialog – 2026".

According to information provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing, the "Hungarian" variety, which was previously very popular, has now lost its competitiveness in both domestic and international markets, leading to a significant decline in its market value.

In this regard, enterprises have begun to import new, more promising plum varieties from abroad. In particular, the "Stanley" variety has attracted special attention due to its high yield, excellent market qualities, and stable demand.

Since 2025, the "Stanley" variety has demonstrated stable productivity over a period of 9–10 years. The successful realization of the harvested crop has allowed for the recovery of investments and labor costs. Analysis has shown that this variety is more profitable and promising compared to the "Hungarian".

Thus, farms have decided to gradually transition to the "Stanley" variety. In the coming years, it is planned to increase planting areas, develop nurseries, and distribute seedlings among farmers, with the aim of elevating this variety to the level of a regional brand.

The "Stanley" variety is well-suited for the commercial market due to its high yield, ease of transportation, and good resilience.
