- Vyacheslav Rachenko, a farmer from the Jayil district, presented a report on parsnip cultivation methods at the "Agrodialog" forum on February 18, which may be of interest for export.

He reported that parsnip was sown on an area of 9 hectares using drip irrigation. As a result, the average yield was 25.3 tons per hectare, with some plots achieving a record 30 tons.

Rachenko noted that such high results were made possible by developed infrastructure, including access to water and electricity, as well as the use of modern agronomic technologies. In particular, the farmer applied a fertigation system that combines irrigation with fertilization, and agricultural drones for crop treatment.

However, the farmer faced certain difficulties. One of the main problems was the lack of accessible recommendations on agronomy for parsnip. Additionally, at the beginning, there was low seed germination — about 60%. It later became clear that pre-treatment of seeds at a specific temperature was necessary to improve this indicator.

He also added that the use of drip irrigation allowed for more efficient use of fertilizers and compliance with export quality standards for the products.

Note: Parsnip is a vegetable plant from the celery family, characterized by a sweet root with a nutty flavor. The appearance of parsnip resembles tall grass with a straight branched stem. It matures in September, and the root can reach lengths of up to 25 cm. The parsnip root is considered a dietary product.
