The project of the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydropower Plants was discussed by the energy ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.

At a meeting held between the energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia, key issues of cooperation in the energy sector were discussed. The event was attended by Sergey Tsivilev, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, as well as the Minister of Energy of the country Talaybek Ibraev and representatives of PJSC "RusHydro".

Special attention was given to the Upper Naryn Cascade Hydropower Plant project, where the parties outlined ways for further cooperation and agreed on steps for its implementation. Issues of bilateral interaction in creating a sectoral order for the fuel and energy complex were also discussed. "The development of a sectoral order for the fuel and energy complex is one of the priority areas of our cooperation," emphasized Sergey Tsivilev.

During the discussions, issues of interaction within multilateral formats were also raised. The Russian side confirmed the information about the upcoming meeting of the energy ministers of the SCO countries, which is scheduled for June 2026 in Bishkek.

Earlier, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, stated that the resumption of construction of the Upper Naryn Cascade Hydropower Plant is only possible after resolving the debt dispute with the Russian company "RusHydro."
