The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to amend the rules for phytosanitary control within the EAEU.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, the new measures concern situations where the recipients of quarantine products specified in the phytosanitary certificate do not actually accept the goods.

The changes made pertain to paragraph 3.2 of the Regulations on the Procedure for Quarantine Phytosanitary Control, which has been in effect since 2010. If the authorized bodies of the destination country detect a discrepancy between the recipient indicated in the documents and the actual recipient, they will notify the exporting country.

In the event of a repeated violation, a second notification will be sent, and the authorized body of the exporting country will refuse to issue the next phytosanitary certificate for recipients from that country for a period of 60 calendar days.

These measures aim to combat the use of false information in documents and to enhance control over the movement of quarantine products within the Union.
