In Kyrgyzstan, a fast payment system will be launched in the near future
He noted that work is currently underway to improve the accessibility, speed, and security of financial services in the country.
“With the help of the fast payment system, users will be able to make instant transfers between accounts of different banks. We intend to launch a pilot project in this quarter,” said the representative of the National Bank.
Medet Tairov also emphasized that the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan remains resilient amid rapid economic growth.
There are 24 commercial banks operating in the country, and the assets of the banking system exceed 1.2 trillion soms, while the loan portfolio amounts to over 500 billion soms. The deposit base continues to grow, indicating trust from both the population and businesses.
“Our goal is to maintain a balance between stimulating innovation and ensuring the stability of the financial system. The presence of buffers allows banks to respond confidently to external economic challenges,” he added.
It was also noted that the ELQR technology has been implemented in Kyrgyzstan — a unified national standard for QR payments that ensures full cross-platform compatibility. This allows payments to be made through any banking application, regardless of the bank or electronic wallet.
