According to reports, the bank's press service clarified that the cancellation of plans is related to a revision of its international strategy. "Freedom Bank is currently not planning to open a subsidiary bank in Kyrgyzstan as part of the update of its international strategy. However, the bank continues to explore opportunities in this market in the context of the region's long-term development," the company noted.

At present, the bank is focused on exploring other foreign directions that were identified as a result of recent meetings and trips by the management.

Despite the cancellation of the subsidiary bank opening, Freedom Bank maintains its presence in Kyrgyzstan through its holding companies, which offer brokerage and payment services, as well as ticket sales services.

It is worth recalling that in December 2025, Freedom Bank Kazakhstan announced its intention to enter the Kyrgyz market, planning to create a company that was supposed to obtain a banking license and become a full-fledged bank.

It was expected that the new bank would be fully owned by Freedom Bank Kazakhstan and its authorized capital would amount to 1 billion soms. However, now the chairman of the bank's board needs to withdraw the previously submitted application for permission to establish a subsidiary institution.
