In 2024-2025, mutual investments between the countries of the region rose by $400 million, which is 42%, reaching a total of $1.3 billion.
Main trends from 2020 to 2025:
- Kazakhstan has become the leading investor in the region, with a share of 72% ($930 million) in outgoing investments.
- A total of 21 projects have been implemented. Uzbekistan increased its outgoing investments by 28% ($370 million), which is more than four times the previous figures.
- The most significant recipients of investments were Uzbekistan with $680 million and Kyrgyzstan with $450 million, which together account for 87% of the total inflow of foreign direct investments from Central Asia.
The EDB asserts that the growth of intra-regional investments was driven by key projects, including the construction of residential complexes in Tashkent involving Kazakh companies, as well as Kazakhstan's investments in the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbek investments in a household appliance manufacturing plant in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan.
