Elon Musk made a statement that China could take the lead in high technology if the US does not achieve significant breakthroughs. He expressed this opinion in an interview on the YouTube channel of blogger Dharmesh Patel.
When asked whether Washington can expect "Chinese hegemony" in areas such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicle manufacturing, and humanoid robots, Musk replied that without innovative achievements in the US, China will completely dominate. "We cannot win just by population size, as China's population is four times larger than ours," he emphasized, adding that America is experiencing a prolonged period of low birth rates.
Furthermore, Musk noted that labor productivity per capita in China is higher, which is also an important factor. "People there are doing significantly more work," he said.
The entrepreneur also pointed out China's advantages in the extraction of rare earth metals.
