Kyrgyzstan Aims to Increase Rail Freight Turnover to 15 Million Tons Per Year

Kyrgyzstan, as part of its National Economic Development Program until 2030, has set an ambitious goal to increase the volume of freight transportation by rail to 15 million tons per year. This was announced at the business forum "B5+1," where Urmat Takhirov, the director of the specialized center of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, spoke.

Takhirov noted that the program includes clear parameters aimed at improving the capacity of railway transport.

It was previously reported that by 2025, it is expected to reach a freight volume of 10.5 million tons.

In addition, the official added that the development of logistics infrastructure is planned, including the construction of at least one million square meters of warehouse space and the reconstruction of key transport arteries. It is expected that by 2030, the transport sector could generate up to 1.5 billion dollars annually.
