The leading specialist in veterinary and sanitary safety at the Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Tilek Tabaldiev, shared information about the procedures for controlling the import and export of animal products during his speech on the radio.
Tabaldiev noted that there are 19 veterinary laboratories operating in Kyrgyzstan, of which two have already received accreditation according to international standards.
“Before export, all products undergo mandatory safety testing. Only after receiving a laboratory conclusion is a veterinary certificate issued,” he added.
He emphasized that the main research is conducted in the laboratories of Bishkek and Osh. In connection with the new requirements of technical regulations, the procedure for re-accreditation of laboratories has begun in the country, which is expected to be completed by the middle of this year.
Additionally, Tabaldiev announced the start of preparations for the construction of a new veterinary phytosanitary laboratory, funded by a grant from China. Currently, the Chinese side is conducting a tender for the work, after which the construction is planned to begin.
Regarding imports, he clarified that all imported products must be accompanied by permitting documents and undergo veterinary control at the border. Upon arrival in the customs clearance zone, both document verification and physical control, including laboratory studies, are conducted. Only after confirming safety is a veterinary certificate of the Customs Union issued, which is necessary for the sale of the products.
In the event of hazardous substances being detected or exceeding permissible limits, the products are subject to disposal or destruction depending on the results of laboratory studies.
