The volume of trade between Kyrgyzstan and EU countries has increased by 1.6 times over 3 years, - Ministry of Economy

- The volume of trade between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union has increased by 60% over three years. This was reported on the radio by Perizat Turdukhozhoyeva, the chief specialist of the trade policy and WTO department of the Trade Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

According to Turdukhozhoyeva, the trade and economic relations of Kyrgyzstan with the EU are developing within the framework of existing agreements, including preferential trade regimes. From 2021 to 2024, mutual trade increased 1.6 times: exports doubled, while imports grew by approximately 50%.

She also noted that in 2024, the share of EU countries in Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade exceeded 30%, while in the export structure it accounted for about 40%. This year, the total volume of mutual trade reached $5.5 billion, which is 20% more compared to 2023. Exports amounted to $1.7 billion, increasing by 20%, while imports totaled $3.8 billion, with an approximate growth of 15%.

According to the ministry's data, in the 11 months of 2025, the volume of mutual trade with the EU amounted to about $4.9 billion, which is 1.3% higher than the figures for the same period last year. Exports exceeded $1 billion, while imports reached $3.9 billion, increasing by 17.7%.

Turdukhozhoyeva reported that Kyrgyzstan mainly exports dairy products, vegetables and fruits, dried fruits, clothing and accessories, glass and glass products, as well as other consumer goods and goods for re-export to the EU. In turn, imports from the EU include petroleum products, raw and intermediate goods for production, such as coal, gas, wheat, flour, vegetable oil, sugar, wood, paper and cardboard, ferrous metals and products made from them, construction materials, cars, inorganic chemicals, fertilizers, and other consumer goods.
