In the Aravan district of Kyrgyzstan, with the arrival of early spring, active potato planting has begun. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, optimal weather conditions and fields prepared by agronomists contribute to successful sowing.
It is reported that the potatoes planted this season are expected to be ready for harvest as early as May. One local farmer, who has cultivated a plot of 90 hundredths, plans to harvest more than 20 tons of produce.
Farmers are using the "Riviera" potato variety, which is characterized by early ripening and can yield crops up to three times from one plot within two months.
The Ministry also noted that land preparation began last autumn: farmers fertilized the soil and treated it with special preparations and vitamins. In turn, the agency provides the necessary equipment and means for field processing.
The grown potatoes will be supplied not only to the domestic market of Kyrgyzstan but also exported to neighboring countries. Additionally, local residents are being engaged in fieldwork, earning a wage of 1,500 soms per day.
