Analysts Compared the Fall of Bitcoin to the Story of Benjamin Button
It is expected that the price of Bitcoin may drop to 38 thousand dollars. Analysts from Stifel have drawn parallels between the current decline in the value of the most famous cryptocurrency and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." In October 2022, the price of Bitcoin reached a record high of 126 thousand dollars, after which it sharply fell to 67 thousand, returning to levels that were recorded in November 2024.
Experts note that bearish positions on Bitcoin follow a certain trend, indicating the possibility of a drop to 38 thousand dollars. They refer to historical data: in 2011, the token lost 93% of its value, in 2015 - 84%, in 2018 - 83%, and in 2022 - 76%. The line connecting these lows points to 38 thousand dollars as a potential limit for the current decline, analysts from Stifel explained.
“In the film and in the story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, on which it is based, Button grows younger while those around him grow older. Bitcoin, in turn, has a fixed limit of 21 million BTC, which makes it more resilient — in the analysts' opinion, more 'youthful' — against the backdrop of a weakening dollar due to constant monetary issuance. However, it is now starting to age, like the young version of Button, who looks like a 10-year-old child but behaves like an 80-year-old man,” the experts believe.
Professor Alexander Abramov, head of the laboratory for the analysis of institutions and financial markets at RANEPA, asserts that the price of Bitcoin will continue to fall in the near future. He links the price decline to a lack of new investors willing to invest amid rising risks.
