The Minister of Construction reported to the Jogorku Kenesh about the government's measures to control housing prices

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services, Nurdana Oruntaev, shared information about the current state of the construction sector in Kyrgyzstan. According to him, the country still heavily depends on the import of building materials, with Russia traditionally being the main supplier of metal.

Oruntaev noted that in construction, metal and conductors have the highest costs. To address this issue, the government approved the import of building materials from China.

The minister also pointed out that in the past, Russian suppliers often inflated prices, which led to a significant increase in the cost of rolled metal. However, in 2025, the price per kilogram of metal remained stable at 56–58 soms throughout the year.

"Last year, the situation was different — we managed to keep the price in the range of 56–58 soms, which directly affected housing prices," he added.

Additionally, the minister mentioned that several cement plants are actively operating in Kyrgyzstan, located both in the south and the north of the country. To control housing prices, the government also purchased cement from local producers, which led to additional positive results.

In conclusion, Oruntaev noted that the state supports local producers while also attracting foreign suppliers to reduce prices in the construction sector and stabilize the market situation.
