At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva reported that in 2025, the price of housing increased by 27%. In this regard, she inquired about the measures the government is taking to reduce dependence on imported building materials.
Construction Minister Nurdin Oruntaev confirmed the existence of this problem, noting that a significant portion of building materials comes from abroad.
“Russia was the main supplier of metal, which is one of the most expensive materials in construction, including conductors. We allowed the import of building materials from China. In 2025, prices for rolled metal fluctuated between 56-58 soms per kilogram, with an increase in previous years. There were instances of price manipulation by Russian suppliers, but such incidents were avoided last year. We made efforts to curb prices in this segment. Cement manufacturers are actively operating in Kyrgyzstan, both in the south and in the north of the country. As part of the price control measures, purchases of cement from local producers and suppliers were initiated,” he added.
