Compared to the previous year, production increased by 675.4 million kWh, which corresponds to a growth of 4.5% for the period from January to December 2024.
The agency emphasized that this growth is linked to the introduction of new capacities, which has been a response to the growing needs of the population and businesses for electricity.
According to a statement by the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev in September, the upcoming winter is expected to be the most challenging for the country.
In this regard, measures to conserve electricity began in the republic in September.
By mid-November 2025, the following restrictions were introduced:
- the use of outdoor lighting in administrative and government institutions in the evening is prohibited;
- the use of electricity in schools is limited after 6:00 PM;
- a new power limit of 3 kW has been set for households, forcing residents to choose between using a washing machine and an electric kettle;
- the operation of mining farms has been suspended until the end of March 2026;
- the Bishkek city administration stated that all electrical appliances, especially high-consumption ones, in cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs must be turned off after 10:00 PM, although this requirement was later softened;
- the president instructed to minimize the volume of electricity imports.
