In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has significantly reduced its dependence on external food supplies. Major food products are now being produced in larger volumes, which has allowed for an increase in the level of self-sufficiency in many categories.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by 2025 the republic will fully or excessively provide itself with six out of nine main types of food. Complete self-sufficiency has been noted in the following categories:
- vegetables and melons;
- potatoes;
- milk;
- meat;
- sugar;
- eggs.
- baked goods;
- vegetable oil;
- fruits and berries.
- milk — an increase from 112% in 2020 to 127.3% in 2025;
- meat — an increase from 63.6% to 85.7%;
- sugar — a jump from 15% to 82.1%;
- eggs — an increase from 56.4% to 79.8%;
- vegetable oil — an increase from 34% to 51.7%;
