The Dependence of Kyrgyzstan on Food Imports is Decreasing

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, by 2025, Kyrgyzstan will be able to provide itself with six out of nine key food products.

The self-sufficient products include potatoes, milk, meat, sugar, eggs, as well as vegetables and melons. However, to meet the needs for bread products, vegetable oil, as well as fruits and berries, the republic still relies on imports.

Over the past six years, the level of self-sufficiency in the country has significantly increased:
The increase in domestic production contributes to reducing dependence on imported supplies and strengthening food security in Kyrgyzstan, the ministry emphasizes.
