The first wind power plant in Kyrgyzstan has successfully started generating electricity. This was reported by Kundus Kyrbashova, head of the Association of Green Stations, on her social media page.
“This is an important step from words to action and a new stage for wind energy in our country. Notably, this project has been implemented by the Kyrgyz company ‘Metrum TEC,’” she noted.

Currently, the construction of this power plant, located in Balykchy in the Issyk-Kul region, is actively ongoing.
It should be clarified that the wind farm is being created by the local company ‘Metrum TEC’ in the territory of the special economic zone ‘Karakoil,’ not far from Balykchy. Investments in the project amounted to 100 million dollars, aimed at developing the country’s energy sector.

The wind farm project has a total capacity of 100 megawatts and includes two phases:
- The first phase involves the installation of 21 turbines with a total capacity of 50 megawatts;
- The second phase involves the installation of 20 additional turbines, each with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts.

Additionally, the wind farm will provide electricity not only to the Issyk-Kul region but will also be able to export it as part of the regional CASA-1000 project.

According to forecasts, by 2030, the installed capacity of wind power plants worldwide will significantly increase, and new technologies for integration with energy storage systems will make wind energy more reliable and competitive.
