- During the meeting of the EAEU Council held on January 30, Kyrgyzstan discussed the update of the quarantine phytosanitary control procedures for vegetables, fruits, berries, and other products sent to Russia. This was reported on February 3 at a press conference by Kanybek uulu Elimbek, head of the EAEU Coordination Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“Previously, there were cases where incorrect recipients were indicated in the certificates, which created difficulties during delivery. Now, if violations are repeated within a year, the issuance of the certificate will be suspended for 60 days. In the case of the first violation, the sender will simply be notified,” Kanybek uulu Elimbek clarified.

In addition, the meeting discussed a new regulation on external electronic trade, which will come into effect in July 2026. After ratification by the participating countries, goods arriving through online platforms will be exempt from duties up to 200 euros. For other goods, a rate of 5% will apply, but not less than 1 euro per kilogram.

Kyrgyzstan also expressed support for the initiative to create a mechanism for financial assistance for industrial cooperation within the EAEU. This mechanism provides for preferential financing of joint industrial and agro-industrial projects, especially for small economies, including Kyrgyzstan.

Kanybek uulu Elimbek noted that the document has already been approved at the level of prime ministers and is now undergoing internal procedures in the participating countries. The relevant acts have already been approved within the Union, preparations for their implementation are underway, and explanatory work with the business community is planned.
