- During the meeting, member of the Jogorku Kenesh Abdyldabek Egemberdiev raised the issue of the lack of irrigation water in the lower part of the Sokuluk district on January 30, 2026.

According to him, previously the villages of Nizhnechuyisk, Kamyshanovka, and Zhany-Pakhta did not experience such difficulties. However, recently the situation has changed, and the water shortage has led to conflicts among residents, even resulting in physical confrontations. Egemberdiev noted that the lower zone of the district is primarily engaged in agriculture and inquired about the measures being taken to address the emerging problem.

In response, the deputy director of the State Agency for Water Resources Abdybai Zhayloobaev explained that the water shortage is due to the current low-water period observed throughout the republic.

He also added that major repair work is being carried out in each district, including the concreting of channels and the implementation of new construction projects. Currently, there are 12 large reservoirs operating in Kyrgyzstan.

Zhayloobaev noted that water supply has been reduced by 50%, which has led to a shortage affecting the Orto-Tokoy, Papanskoye, and Kirov reservoirs as well. Additionally, the agency plans to concrete the western branch of the BChK, and a decrease in the inflow of mountain waters has also been observed, further complicating the provision of agricultural lands.
