The volume of cash in circulation in Kyrgyzstan increased by 24.4%
In the fourth quarter of 2025, Kyrgyzstan observed a significant increase in cash in circulation, as well as an increased inflow and outflow of cash through banks. This data was provided by the National Bank of the country.
As of January 1, 2026, the total amount of cash in the country amounted to 300 billion 778.3 million soms. Of this amount, 36 billion 166.7 million soms were held in the cash registers of commercial banks, while 264 billion 611.6 million soms were outside the banking system. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of cash increased by 51 billion 822.1 million soms, which corresponds to 24.4 percent.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, commercial banks received 1 trillion 680 billion 175.6 million soms, which is 264 billion 920.6 million soms, or 18.7 percent more than in the fourth quarter of 2024.
At the same time, banks issued 1 trillion 692 billion 591.4 million soms from their cash registers, which is 271 billion 568.5 million soms, or 19.1 percent, higher than the figures for the same quarter of the previous year.
The cash return rate to banks for the fourth quarter of 2025 was 99.3 percent, which is 0.3 percentage points lower than in the same period last year.
Overall, the data on cash circulation in the republic shows an increase in the volume of cash transactions and a high level of funds returning to the banking system.
