At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Kubanychbek Samakov raised the issue of the reasons for high interest rates on loans in commercial banks. He pointed out that these institutions offer loans at rates ranging from 15% to 20% per annum, while loans received by Kyrgyzstan from international financial organizations have a rate of only 0.5%-1%, which raises questions.
“What is the reason for such a significant difference? What measures are being taken to reduce it?” he inquired.
In response, the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank, Medet Tairov, explained that loans at 1% are provided by international financial institutions in foreign currency, and there are also infrastructure and preferential loans.
He also noted that deposit rates in the country have increased to 15%. In soms, the rates are generally higher, while in foreign currency they are lower. As of today, the average rate on dollar loans is 7%-8%.
