Why is meat export banned for everyone in Kyrgyzstan except for one company?
During a recent meeting of the parliamentary committee on agrarian policy, Deputy Alisher Kozyuev raised the issue of the possibility of exporting meat outside the country, to which he received an ambiguous response from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Deputy Minister Zhanibek Kerimaliev confirmed that there is currently a strict ban on meat exports in Kyrgyzstan. However, during the discussion, it became clear that this ban does not apply to all market players.
In particular, in response to the deputy's comment about the company "Agroholding," the deputy minister noted that this company continues to supply foreign markets. This exclusive right is established by a special resolution. The main volumes of products are directed to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and often these supplies are carried out through the southern regions of the country in a transit mode.
Thus, while for most market participants the export remains closed, some companies have the legal right to trade with neighboring states.
