The Housing Committee ratified the investment protection agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Italy
At a recent meeting of the committee on finance, budget, and entrepreneurship of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies approved in the first reading an agreement on the encouragement and protection of investments between Kyrgyzstan and Italy.
Deputy head of the National Investment Agency, Damirbek Bikulov, reported that this agreement was signed on May 30, 2025, in Astana and was initiated by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to him, this bill aims to strengthen economic ties and expand investment opportunities, acting as an international legal act.
During the discussion, deputy Kamila Talieva inquired about how much investment has been attracted from Italy to Kyrgyzstan to date.
In response, Bikulov stated that the volume of Italian investments for the first nine months of 2025 amounted to only 2 million dollars, which is quite a modest figure.
He added that Italian companies often offer their technologies. In 2024, during the president's visit to Italy, certain agreements were reached, and this agreement will create favorable conditions for more active cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Ulan Primov asked what products Kyrgyzstan plans to export to Italy.
Bikulov replied that the main exported goods will be organic and textile products.
