In Kyrgyzstan, livestock breeding is being transitioned to a digital format
In Kyrgyzstan, a project has begun to transition the system for accounting breeding livestock to a digital format. This was announced by Zhanibek Kerimaliev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh that deals with agrarian policy and ecology.
According to him, previously, paper breeding cards were used for accounting animals, but now there are plans to replace them with electronic documents.
“Farms will be able to submit applications online, which will simplify the process of obtaining breeding farm status,” he noted.
Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova also raised the issue of the constant increase in meat product prices.
“Current policies affect the cost of meat products and the provision for the population,” she emphasized.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need to shift to assessing quality, not just the quantity of animals.
“The problem of pasture degradation is becoming increasingly urgent. Increasing the number of breeding farms will help reduce the overall livestock population but improve the quality of animals. Various measures are planned to support such farms, including preferential lending. For example, loans for cattle breeding can be provided at 3% per annum,” Kerimaliev added.
He also reported the launch of a pilot project in the Chui region, which involves providing preferential loans for fattening enterprises to keep meat prices stable.
“Social meat pavilions are being created, and actions are being taken to stabilize prices. Price dumping on meat supplies, including imports, is being conducted, and regular raids at markets and agricultural fairs on weekends are being organized,” the Deputy Minister concluded.
