The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved a draft agreement concerning electronic trade in goods within the EAEU and sent it to the member states of the "five" for the necessary internal procedures before signing.

According to the EEC press service, this document aims to create common conditions for electronic trade in the internal market, as well as to reduce risks that may lead to barriers to the free movement of goods.

The formation of a comprehensive legal environment is a key step in creating favorable conditions for both businesses and consumers in the "five" countries. This implies predictability and transparency of regulation throughout the union, the possibility of using electronic document flow, as well as reducing administrative costs and financial expenses, as clarified by EEC representatives.

As for consumers, they will receive unified standards for the protection of their rights, similar to those in traditional trade, as well as guarantees of information security, personal data protection, and spam limitation. Additionally, the freedom of movement of goods in the field of electronic trade and related services within the EAEU will ensure access for citizens to a variety of quality goods from different regions, as well as open new markets for businesses.

The draft agreement was developed as part of a roadmap approved by the heads of government of the member states in 2021, aimed at creating conditions for the development of electronic trade in the EAEU.
