Over 11 billion soms allocated for state support of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan in 2025
One of the reasons for the decrease in volumes is the low yield in the Chuy, Talas, and Batken regions. This year also saw a shortage of irrigation water and more arid spring-summer conditions compared to 2024, while some crops matured 2–3 weeks earlier, leading to an earlier start of harvesting.
As a result of 2025, the gross harvest of wheat decreased by 26.8%, barley by 26.5%, sugar beets by 43.7%, tobacco by 44.2%, cotton by 49.2%, oilseeds by 11.7%, legumes by 3.6%, and potatoes by 1.7%.
However, compared to 2024, there was an increase in the gross harvest of corn for grain (+5.1%), rice (+17.0%), vegetables (+11.3%), fruit and berry crops (+17.5%), and melons (+7.1%). This allowed the overall gross harvest of agricultural products to remain at 100.2%.
The total area of crops for the 2025 harvest was 1,245.6 thousand hectares, which is 0.1% less than in 2024. The number of agricultural cooperatives increased from 753 to 821, and the area of land they cultivated reached 55,454 hectares. Throughout the year, 68 new cooperatives were established with a total area of 1,007 hectares.
Preliminary data indicate that state support for the agricultural sector in 2025 amounted to over 11 billion soms. This year, projects were implemented for the development of seed production and nurseries (preferential loans of 15.8 million soms), breeding livestock (584.1 million soms), as well as financing for consolidated producers (218.2 million soms). Under the "Agriculture Financing - 13" program, 6,487 rural producers received preferential loans totaling 4.1 billion soms.
