Despite the sanctions, 1.2 billion tons of cargo have been transported by rail from the CIS to Western countries, - Secretary General Lebedev
He emphasized: “We are capable of responding unanimously to global challenges and external pressure. Thanks to our joint efforts, we are actively developing import substitution, which significantly mitigates the negative consequences of sanctions policy.”
According to him, the results of cooperation in areas such as industry and the agro-industrial complex demonstrate their effectiveness.
Coordination in the fields of energy, transport, and communications are key areas that ensure the smooth operation and active use of the transit potential of the CIS countries.
“Thus, despite the restrictions related to sanctions, in the nine months of 2025, 1,166.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the railway routes of the Commonwealth to Western countries, and the cargo turnover is almost at the level of 2024,” he said.
Moreover, the number of passengers in international transportation increased by 13.6% and reached 8.4 million people,” added Lebedev.
